There is so much to do this weekend in Sarasota, the Beaches and Beyond!!  From Fun Run’s to Movies on the Beach, to Movies on the big Screen….there is indeed something for everyone!

Here are a few of our picks of things to do this week!


Saturday April 1st will see the 31st running of the Run/Walk for the Turtles sponsored by Mote Marine on Siesta Key Public Beach.  You may register early by visiting their website here: https://mote.org/events/details/31st-annual-run-for-the-turtles  or you may also register at 6:30 on race day at the Siesta Key Gazebo.  The 1 mile fun run takes place at 7:30 and the 5k run begins at 8am.  The proceeds of this event support Sea Turtle Conservation and Research at the Mote Marine Laboratory!

 

Not to be out-done, Coquina Beach on Anna Maria Island will also host a run this weekend.  The 5th annual “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” event takes place Saturday at 4pm.  This family friendly, 1 mile Awareness Walk will include a sand blast/castle competition, drawings and raffles, tee-shirts, family pictures, face painting, bounce house, food music and sunset watch!  Proceeds of this event support homeless youth in Mantee County.  Visit: https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07edt8e7b99391069e&llr=f95n7gmab for registration/more information.


If you still have not found DORY…then you and help FIND her Saturday evening at sunset on Siesta Key Beach!  The Sarasota Film Festival’s Moonlight Movies continues this week with a showing of Finding Dory!  This is a free event open to the public.  Don’t forget your blanket and/or chairs and come enjoy a great family film under the stars!!!


Interested in Sidewalk Astronomy?  Deep Sky Observers will set up telescopes for public viewing from sunset. - 10 p.m. (weather permitting) at City Field, Holmes Beach. Sidewalk Astronomy at Holmes Beach is located on the soccer field between Marina Drive and Flotilla Drive.  Come check out some heavenly bodies!


This weekend also kicks off the Annual Sarasota Film Festival!!!  This 10 day celebration of movies brings Hollywood to Sarasota!  For full schedule of events, ticket information and more, visit their website:  https://www.sarasotafilmfestival.com/


Join the State College of Florida as they host an evening under the stars…with their Diamonds are Forever performance.  Featuring the SCF Jazz Band, Venice Symphony and fireworks all and located at the Venice campus of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), 8000 S.
