What's Happening in Sarasota, the Beaches and Beyond (April 21-23rd)
It is a great weekend to celebrate the earth with many cool area events taking place to celebrate Earth Day! There are also many other fun events to take part in this weekend....including watching Jaws on Lido Beach!!! What will you do this weekend in Sarasota, the Beaches and Beyond?
The 35th Annual Suncoast Boat Show will be taking place at Sarasota’s Bayfront Marina. Cruisers, Runabouts, Bowriders, Sportfishers, Center Consoles, Motor Yachts, Inflatables and more will all be on display. Friday and Saturday 10-7pm and Sunday 10-5pm.
Celebrate Earth Day at the Crowley Museum and Nature Center with a day full of fun and outdoor activities including pony rides!!! Enjoy a nature hike and sing along at 10:30 a.m., campfire treats at noon, story time at 2 p.m. and more special events through the day. 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Adults: $5.00. The 28th Annual Sarasota Earth Day Celebration at Oscar Scherer State Park will also take place this Saturday. Admission to one of the most popular of Sarasota Parks is free on Earth Day. And with so many events scheduled, sites to see, live music and nature and wildlife to enjoy, you can probably fill the entire day's schedule from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Volley America Spalding King of the Beach Big Shot Volleyball Tournament will also take place this weekend on Siesta Key Beach featuring 25 nets, open men, women, juniors and collegiate levels. Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (Sunday starts at 9 a.m.)
It is safe to go into the water…..at sunset on Saturday! The Sarasota Film Festival’s Moonlight Movies season concludes with “Jaws” at Lido Beach. Bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy this free event on Lido Key.
The 15th Annual "Building to a Cure" Benefit Classic Car Show featuring classic and vintage vehicles from pre-1950s - 1990s takes place at Centennial Park in Venice Sunday from 9-1pm. Always a great show with cars from every era on display for close up viewing. Participants compete for 28 Trophies. This event benefits Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.
Don’t forget the Ski-A-Rees Water Ski Team will be doing their Sunday afternoon show at 2 p.m. at Ski-A-Ree Stadium. This free show takes place at 1602 Ken Thompson Parkway (near/behind Mote Marine Aquarium on the water.) 2 p.m.
